Job Title: Membership/Education Coordinator
Location: Gallery Connexion, Chestnut Complex, 440 York St., Fredericton, NB
Length of Position: 42 weeks starting June 14, 2010 and ending March 31, 2011
Time and Pay: 30 hours/week at $11/hour

A POSITION FOR SOMEONE CREATIVE AND RESOURCEFUL WITH A STRONG INTEREST IN THE ARTS AND COMMUNITY

Requirements for the intern:
• Be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
• Be out of school and have a postgraduate diploma
• Not have already participated in or been paid under the Young Canada Works or Career Focus Internship programs
• Be unemployed or underemployed (not working in his/her field or working part time)
• Not be receiving Employment Insurance

Job Overview
The Membership and Education Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and the membership of Gallery Connexion. The objectives of this new position will be to increase the membership by implementing specified programming for members including a membership drive and workshops, and to increase the amount of outreach towards high school, university, and college students. The Membership and Education Coordinator will also be required to help with some administrative functions and with the installation and preparation for exhibitions and events taking place at the gallery on an ongoing basis.

Candidate Profile
A variety of disciplines could benefit the candidate for this internship including but not limited to: fine arts, media arts, communication and design, or business. The candidate will be someone who can:

• Communicate – participate and lead group discussions and be responsible for reporting on plans and progress made.
• Manage information – gather information from emails, group discussions and individual research and formulate a plan. Manage budgets and timelines using Excel spreadsheets and report on projects regularly using word documents and email
• Be adaptable – be innovative and resourceful, identify and suggest alternative ways to achieve goals and get the job done
• Demonstrate positive attitudes and behaviors – deal with people, problems and situations with honesty, integrity, and personal ethics
